Kuala Penyu Fisherman Dies At Sea

BEAUFORT, SABAH – A fishermen drowned when his boat capsized in waters near Kampung Batu Linting, Menumbok yesterday.

Beaufort police chief, DSP Yusoff Zaki Mat Yaacob said the 55-year-old victim headed out to sea with his relative at about 3.30pm.

“They went to pull out a trawling rig and on the way home met strong waves which capsized their boat…

“Both attempted to swim towards the shoreline but only his cousin made it with the help of locals,” he said.

The victim identified as Lee Yong Sit @ Heron Liukun was confirmed dead by on-scene paramedics.

Yusoff meanwhile said the remains has been brought to Kuala Penyu hospital for a COVID-19 screening pending a post-mortem.

Investigations continue as the case is classified as Sudden Death.
