KOTA BELUD, SABAH – A man tried to save his marriage by lodging a fake police report claiming that he was mugged by two men at Kampung Pirasan here, yesterday.
The 30-year-old had also claimed his motorcycle was stolen in the make believe 9pm incident.
It was soon learnt that it was only a bold move to gain his wife’s attention, away from an impending divorce.
District police chief, Supt Sahimi Husin said investigations found inconsistencies in the man’s story.
“He finally confessed to faking the whole report. The man then led police to the location where he had hidden his motorcycle…
“He said he did it to save his marriage,” Sahimi said.
Drug tests on the man meanwhile returned positive for syabu.
He is now being detained under Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for using on top of Section 182 of the Penal Code for giving false information to a public servant.
Sahimi reminded the public that stern repercussions would follow the act which includes jail time and a fine if convicted.
