KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – Menggatal Chinese leader Kapitan Stephen Teo is among three to join Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR).

Teo, a former Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) supreme council member was followed by former PBS Karambunai vice chairman WKAN Charles Arab and former committee member John Kaltus Jintuil.

Teo said the trio made the decision out of their own free will as they believe in STAR’s political ideology.

Meanwhile in a short speech, party President Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan said STAR should not be seen as stealing members from friendly political parties but at the same time valued freedom of choice.

“Despite the opposition’s claims STAR has remained committed to its objective of reclaiming the rights of Sabah as a nation and to regain the rights of the natives already severely eroded in the name of integration within the federation of Malaysia,” he said.

Urging STAR supporters to remain calm, Jeffrey said he is still adjusting to his new role as the deputy chief minister, having been on the opposite side of the fence for so long.

“But the federal government has heard our demands and we are confident these demands will be fulfilled soon,” he said at the STAR party headquarters in Bukit Padang yesterday.
