LABUAN – Police open fire towards a suspected drug dealer’s tires when his attempt at escape turned into violent driving near Jalan Bunga Mawar here on Wednesday.

Apparently he was sandwiched between a police patrol car and a Labuan Corporate Enforcement Toyota Hilux in the 9.30pm scene.

Police chief DSP Ibrahim Ghani said the 44-year-old in a Mitsubishi Lancer ping-ponged violently between the two vehicles leading up to the deescalation method.

“No one was hurt in the incident. The suspect was eventually arrested and eight packets believed to be syabu were found on him.”

Ibrahim said the police patrol vehicle was tailing the suspect who sped off soon after noticing.

“He is remanded for investigation under Section 39A of the Dangerous Drugs Act and 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder of police officers during the line of duty,” he said.

Drug tests returned positive for the man who was arrested twice prior under Section 15(1)(a) of the same drug act.
