Meth Addict Awaiting Trial For Murder After Victim Dies in Hospital

LAHAD DATU, SABAH – An 81-year-old man succumbs to stab wounds inflicted by a drug addict after a month long battle for his life at the Tawau Hospital on Sunday.

District police chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad said the victim was pronounced dead at 9.30am.

“In light of events the 21-year-old suspect will be recharged under Section 302 for murder. He was sentenced under Section 326 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act at the Lahad Datu courts on 5 March.

“He was sentenced to six months in jail with three whippings,” he said.

Rohan said the court rehearing would commence on 1 April.

In the Friday (12 Feb) incident at Kampung Pisang here, the meth addict stabbed the victim in the neck with a box cutter.

The victim received early treatment at the Lahad Datu Hospital before being transferred to intensive care in Tawau.
