KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – Three federal (3) civil servants plead not guilty at the Special Corruptions Court today on charges of fraudulent travel claims and nepotism.
The accused Panduan Paglin, 40, and Erwan Roslan, 41, both National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) officers, were charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.
Meanwhile, Hizan Laliman, 40, an assistant Information and Computer Technology (ICT) officer for the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) here was charged under Section 23(1) of the same act for awarding contracts to family.
Panduan and and Erwan were charged on six counts of falsifying allowance claims within the period of six months. Panduan’s claims amounted RM 3,443 and Erwan, RM 2,938.
Hizan on the other hand was charged for 11 counts of awarding supply and repair contracts to family members amounting more than RM 36,000 between the years of 2013 and 2015.
The prosecution was led by SPRM prosecuting officer Rakhraj Singh. Defendants Panduan and Erwan were represented by lawyer Jamadi Salleh while Hizan was represented by Ari Nazrah.
Judge Abu Bakar Mamat granted the trio bail with surety aside from mandatory monthly reports to the MACC office.
Panduan and Erwan’s bails were each set for RM 10,000 with an RM 5,000 deposit and Hizan at RM 15,000 with an RM 7,000 deposit.
