KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – Some 20 Rotary Club Kota Kinabalu members are primed to serve the local community after graduating from a five week long Rotary Leadership Institue (RLI) course yesterday.
District Chairman for RLI 3310, Phillip Chong, said it was the first RLI training course done virtually post COVID-19.
“Today we bear witness to the graduation ceremony of participants from Sabah’s various professional sectors…
“There are over 55 partcipants throughout Sabah including members from the East Coast districts but in adherence to the standard operating procedures (SOP) only 20 are allowed physical attendance.
“Before COVID-19 the course used to take two days but now done virtually it had taken up to five weeks. Nevertheless, participants completed the course exceptionally,” he told the press.
The event was held at Zara’s Boutique Hotel in Harbour city here, yesterday.
Phillip said the course honed the trademark Rotary leadership skills needed for volunteer work and community service in terms of management, planning and execution, to help those in need.
“I hope they can better serve the community and continue to train up more leaders with the added knowledge,” he said.
