KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – UMNO Sabah’s call for a continued alliance in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is well received by Bersatu Sabah despite having to go against each other during the coming 15th General Elections.

UMNO Sabah chief Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin on Sunday announced that a new “formula” must be devised for the two political powerhouses to have equal footing here.

BERSATU Sabah information Chief Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan meanwhile said the focus of GRS was to ensure all development strategies for the State and its people is hastened.

He said BERSATU Sabah is confident this would see fruition under leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor with the assistance of his first Deputy, Bung Mokhtar.

“Party ties under the GRS alliance must be maintained to reach optimal state administrative efficiency,” he said in a statement.

GRS is comprised of the two coalitions Periktan Nasional (Bersatu, STAR, SAPP and PAS) and Barisan Nasional (UMNO, PBRS, MCA and MIC), and PBS.

Just yesterday the independent Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has requested to join in the GRS alliance to which Hajiji responded on a positive note.
