PENAMPANG, SABAH – A child was run over and killed by a 4WD in front of a bakery here in Donggongon about 1.50pm yesterday.
District police chief DSP Haris Ibrahim said the 40-year-old driver was just from the bakery when it felt like he hit a bump on the road.
“Investigations revealed the child and her mother were having lunch at a restaurant nearby…
“She was unaware that her daughter had stepped out and ran across the street in the incident,” he said.
They rushed to the hospital in the same vehicle but the child was pronounced dead by Hospital Queen Elizabeth doctors at 4.10pm.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act,” Haris said reminding the public to always keep a close eye on their children especially in public.
