KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – A man had seven of his teeth chipped following a road rage incident turned physical near City Mall here on Monday.
The altercation between the 21-year-old victim and his 36-year-old assailant ended with brutal swings from a baton.
City police chief ACP Habibi Majinji said the former was in a Honda S600 and the latter, in a Perodua Alza.
“The victim felt unsatisfied after being cut off in the fast lane without being given a turn signal. They both pulled over before a traffic light…
“Things spiraled out of control when the Alza owner smashed the victim’s windshield,” Habibi told reporters.
Passersby helped the bloodied victim out of his car who contacted family members before seeking treatment at the hospital.
“The victim suffered multiple head injuries including fractured facial bones and a bruised body.”
Police investigations revealed the attacker to be a foreigner who quickly fled the 10pm scene.
A team picked him up in Kepayan about 2pm today, seizing the car and the weapon.
“No criminal records on this guy. He is here with valid travel documents,” Habibi said.
His remand begins tomorrow for further investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt with a weapon.
