KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – City hall removed 165 Palauh’s around the city in operations dubbed ‘Bangau’ last night.

Sightings of the shored sea gypsies turned aggressive beggars has been a more common sight in town.

Mayor Noorliza Awang Alip said the operations will continue until Sunday focusing on areas in Sembulan and Inanam.

“The Palauh will be screened for Covid-19 before sent off to the Immigration Depo for for further course of action.

“We (DBKK) are acting humanely to give them shelter until they are taken over by the respective agency,” she said in a statement.

The roundup with the Immigration Department and RELA saw 94 adults, 47 children, and 24 infants.
