Diesel Laden Tanker Worth RM 4.8 Million Impounded


LABUAN – Marine Police here impounded an oil tanker laden with 800,000 liters of diesel after failing to produce the required permits on waters near the Bruneian coast here yesterday.

Labuan Marine Police Commanding Officer ACP Saidul Maruf Rosli said the noon incident revealed the vessel registered under the name “Yuho Maru”, including its cargo, to be worth at least RM 4.8 million.

“Inter-agency operations together with the Labuan Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs focus on criminal prevention on waters from here to Brunei…

“Preliminary investigations revealed the captain was void of a petroleum wholesale licence,” he said in a statement.

Police counted eight other crewmen all between the ages of 20 to 73 years.

Investigations are being carried out under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act.
