KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – Four (4) civil servants accused of falsifying cross country hotel travel claims in 2017 pleaded not guilty to their charges at the Special Corruption Court here today.
The accused, Aizat Rosland, Suaif Daud, Razilah Sahad, and Hanip Juarip in their 30s and 40s were arrested on Wednesday.
The quad previously attached to a federal agency were detained for 24 hours at 1pm according to Sabah Malaysian Anti-Commission Corruption Agency (MACC) director Karunanithy Subbiah.
Aizat was charged with two counts on his two months’ claims amounting RM740.
Suaif was charged with eight counts involving falsified hotel receipts amounting RM3,621 based on his seven months’ claims.
Razilah was charged with eight counts involving falsified hotel receipts amounting RM3,497 based on her seven months’ claims.
Hanip was charged with six counts involving falsified hotel receipts amounting to RM1,473 based on his seven months claims.
Judge Abu Bakar Manat granted all the accused bail with one surety and the surrender of their passports under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.
An RM15,000 bail was fixed for Suaif and Razilah, RM12,000 for Mohd Hanip, and RM10,000 for Mohd Aizat.
“All four must commit to mandatory reports at the MACC office every month…
“Submitting claims containing falsified details is an offence under Section 18 of the MACC Acts 2009 for intending to deceive principal,” Karunanithy said.
