BEAUFORT, SABAH – An evil father tried to poison his daughter all because of his wife’s wishes to visit her family for the holidays.
The 43-year-old man gave his five year old a mixture of coffee and pesticide on Sunday enraged that his wife and daughter would be temporarily leaving them for Keningau.
Beaufort police chief DSP Yusoff Zaki Mat Yaacob said the 12pm altercation in Kampung Bundu, Kuala Penyu here even escalated to a point where he choked the girl with his bare hands.
“He brought the five year old to a room on the second floor and began choking her because she was in support of her mother’s decision…
“The mother only found out when their eldest, an eight-year-old, had told her,” Yusoff said when contacted.
He said the victim is doing fine after seeking treatment at the district hospital.
“No adverse effects followed the poisoning due to it being only in trace amounts…
“We are tracking down the suspect who fled shortly after committing the offence,” he said.
