TAWAU, SABAH – A senior citizen perished after crashing his Proton Saga into a lorry parked at a Kampung Seri Menanti roadside here yesterday.
Seventy-two-year-old Wong Jim Fook @ Wong Kim Long was pronounced dead at the 6.18pm scene.
Tawau police chief Peter Umbuas said the lorry driver, a 33-year-old, had stopped his car to throw out some trash when he heard a loud bang.
“He rushed to the source to find the victim’s vehicle stuck to the front of his with the driver being unconscious…
“Preliminary investigations revealed the fault to be that of the victim’s own for crashing into the parked vehicle,” he said in a statement today.
However the case is still being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act and the cause of death to be ascertained following a post-mortem.
