KOTA KINABALU, SABAH – STAR Sabah has strongly denied a digital poster depicting pictures of its president, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan supporting Israel in the current conflict with Hamas.

The poster appeared in the Facebook account of one Danny Lukas Jr, purportedly quoting Star’s president, and one Philip Among as saying “But Israel will be saved by the Lord with and everlasting salvation. You will not be put to shame or humiliated for ages everlasting,” a quote from the Bible accompanied by images of the Sabah and Israel flags.

“Star denies the accusation in the strongest terms and considers it a blatant sabotage which is mischievous and malicious,” said STAR’s information chief, Jeffrey Kumin.

“To depict our president as standing behind Philip Among who is not even a leader of Star and has no role in the decision making body of the party is another purposeful insult,” he added.

Kumin said that Star doesn’t make decisions on international issues, least of all conflicts in the Midde East, which is rightly handled by ministry of foreign affairs and Putrajaya.

Jeffrey Kumin…

Malaysian Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s yesterday firmly stood in condemnation of Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip resulting in deaths and injuries to Palestinians, including children.

“The attacks in the last days of the holy month of Ramadan were despicable and disrespectful not only to Muslims around the world, but mankind as a whole…

“This brutal, extreme, and outrageous attack by Israel blatantly violates international law. Malaysia demands that Israel immediately stop its atrocities against Palestinians in the occupied territories, including those in the Gaza Strip.”

“As policy, the party stands behind the stance taken by Malaysian government on the issue which has been voiced out by the prime minister,” Kumin said.

“We appeal the Malaysian police to go full force in investigating this grave offence for which several police reports have been made. We want the culprits to be exposed and brought justice as soon as possible,” he added.
